Maori Art Designs from Menzies "Maori Patterns"

The classic book of Maori art designs is J.H. Menzies "Maori Patterns: Painted & Carved". Rafter patterns (kowhaiwhai) rank alongside carving and tattoo as one of the three pillars of traditional Maori art. Menzies recorded rafter pattern designs from Maori meeting houses throughout NZ and his famous colour folio was published in 1910.
