Toss Woollaston

Toss Woollaston (1910 - 1988) was a very significant NZ painter. He was one of a very influential group of NZ artists that shaped the development of our art history in the mid to late twentieth century. Woollaston painted large scale paintings of the NZ landscape, particularly of the area around Nelson and the South Island’s West Coast. There are currently two prints available of Woolaston’s paintings, “Sunset Grey River” published by the Capper Press that was printed offset and a newer print that is printed using the giclee process, a high end digital print that beautifully captures the earthy tones of his painting “View towards Mount Richmond”.
