Louis Le Breton

French painter Louis Le Breton (1818 - 1866) replaced the official artist on Dumont d'Urville's second voyage aboard "The Astrolabe". D'Urville's two voyages to New Zealand with official artists aboard to record their explorations have left us with some of the finest early views of European settlement in Aotearoa.
