Auckland printmaker Brad Novak (1976- ) is a self-taught professional artist exploring the relationship between colour, shape, and contrast through a fresh and distinctive style. Brad has just acheived his second sold out edition - well done! Novak's broad choice of subject in his prints, ranging from the culture and landscape of Aotearoa, to sea animals and more recently human anatomy, reflects his love of the natural world. Brad is also a doctor specialising in public health medicine, he says that "I feel privileged to have two successful careers that I am passionate about. Public Health Medicine feeds into my art-making and this in turn has a positive influence on my ability and enthusiasm for making a real difference to the health of people in Aotearoa." Achieving a balanced composition, omission of any obvious light source and high quality finishing are characteristic features of Brad Novak's prints. Brad's prints are popular with collectors - "Reservoir Birds of New Zealand" has just become his second edition to completely sell out.
