Print Code: 10135
Vintage Letterpress PosterPoster size in millimetres: 300 x 420
Charming re-creation of the suffragist’s rallying cry “Votes for Women” which appeared on placards used by campaigners such as Emmeline Pankhurst, a simple message that has strong associations with the campaign for women’s right to vote in New Zealand. New Zealand was the first country to grant women the right to vote, in 1893. This poster is handprinted on a vintage letterpress printing press by the Ferrymead Printing Society, a group of print and book binding enthusiasts who are trying to preserve the skills of the past through providing opportunities for people to acquire the art and skills of printing and bookbinding.
