Vintage Letterpress Poster

Poster size in millimetres: 400 x 290

Notice printed prior to the adoption of universal suffrage in New Zealand in 1893. Epicene has a similar meaning to androgenous - the notice is saying that electioneering women are unladylike. This notice is a genuine letterpress print (handprinted with moveable type) printed in exactly the same way as the original poster by the print shop at Christchurch’s historical park, Ferrymead.
