South Auckland artist Jo Bridge is interested in the extraordinary perfection present in nature. The superb detail within it that you can only see when you look closely – in particular she has a fascination with the sea, sand and shellfish around New Zealand’s coastlines. Her work is a study between the delicate patterns and textures in nature and the contrast of its vibrant colours and the sweeping canvases of its seas. Bridge enjoys the challenges with regards to composition and perspective when you are painting at the “macro” level. Jo grew up in the Eastern Bay of Plenty where easy access to the sweeping East Coast beaches ingrained lasting impressions of and a great respect for the beauty and wonder of nature.
