Gottfried Lindauer
Gottfried Lindauer (1839-1926), a Bohemian, arrived in New Zealand in 1873. A professional artist, he travelled throughout the country as a protege of Henry Partridge, an Auckland businessman, who exhibited Lindauer's portraits of prominent Maori and members of early Colonial families. Lindauer frequently painted more than one version of a portrait, and occasionally worked from photographs. His most famous painting is perhaps Ana Rupene and Child. We stock all three art prints by Gottfriend LIndauer currently available.
