Print of a this very well known watercolour with a deep symbolic meaning for the artist. Angus wrote the same week that she completed the painting staying at her sister’s house in Greymouth on the South Island’s West Coast “I am very fortunate, it is as though my life is in two, I am beginning the second half, with a little wisdom from experience and knowledge, and a little genius. I am free to flower, if only for a few years.” This painting is almost certainly an allusion to her view of herself as a leafless wintry tree about to burst forth into spring blossom. Published at the time of the Rita Angus “Life and Vision” exhibition this is a good quality modern print using lightfast inks.
