Tony Ogle (1959- ) is one of New Zealand's most successful printmakers. Ogle's prints are inspired by locations that are off the beaten track and mostly untouched niches of the New Zealand coastline that convey to him an unchanged timelessness. Tony strives to capture what he calls a "sense of place" in his art prints. With well over two decades of printmaking experience Tony Ogle's prints have become more technically complex as the artist works to depict what he sees as the very essence of the New Zealand landscape. Ogle writes that "Screen-printing allows me to express my love of the New Zealand landscape and ocean environment with strong colours in a direct and graphic manner". Tony has been surfing for more than 30 years and has recently devoted a large portion of his most recent working time to creating a new series of prints of this much-loved activity, particularly around Auckland's west coast beaches like Piha.
