The Temptation of Saint Anthony by Salvador Dali
Fine Art ReproductionImage size in millimetres: 690 x 510
Famous surrealist painting with a less well known and intriguing backstory. It was actually painted by Dali during a competition between eleven painters held in New York in 1946 on the topic of the temptation of St Anthony, organised by a film making firm that promised to feature the winning artwork in a film. Perhaps not surprisingly given the heavy handed censorship of films at the time Dali’s painting did not win. However this became one of his most well-known and popular paintings despite the lukewarm response from the film’s producers. This is a fine art reproduction print published in Italy, superb colour and detail that will give you years of enjoyment.
