This poster is an absolute gem for fans of vintage NZ advertising. It advertises some of NZ’s best loved products of the mid twentieth century, including many brands that have now become kiwiana icons. These include “Milo: The Tonic for the Times”, “Bovo Meat Extract: Delicious in Sandwiches”, “Chesdale pasteurised cheese”, “Wylie’s Brufax: A vitamin food you’ll really enjoy”, and “Weetbix: With Milk is extra good for breakfast”. In the 1940s this poster was used to promote the Four Square Store chain of grocers (it was also issued as a promotional jigsaw puzzle).
