Superb new print of a this very well known watercolour with a deep symbolic meaning for the artist. For the first time available as a high quality giclee print in exactly the same size as the original. Angus wrote the same week that she completed the painting staying at her sister’s house in Greymouth on the South Island’s West Coast “I am very fortunate, it is as though my life is in two, I am beginning the second half, with a little wisdom from experience and knowledge, and a little genius. I am free to flower, if only for a few years.” This painting is almost certainly an allusion to her view of herself as a leafless wintry tree about to burst forth into spring blossom.
