The state house was built by the NZ government for families of all incomes to enjoy a good quality home. There were a variety of designs however an unintended degree of uniformity was created through all houses having an identical degree of roof pitch! This print by designer Glenn Jones pays tribute to this kiwi architectural design, many houses built by private developers were also in the “state house” style during the mid twentieth century.
