Diana Adams was born in Canterbury in 1969. Adams originally worked as a landscape architect but now paints fulltime from her studio in Governor’s Bay, near Christchurch. Diana's paintings are characteristically bold and clear oil paintings and her skilled depictions of the bones of landforms and New Zealand’s distinctive tree shapes have made her one of NZ's most popular contemporary painters. Diana Adams says about her paintings "I am passionate about the New Zealand landscape and landforms. In my art I attempt to capture the ethereal qualities of the landscape by reducing the subject to its essential elements."
