    Portrait of this childhood kiwiana icon by contemporary painter Matt Guild. Sold in New Zealand from 1941 wooden _Mary Lou_ dolls came with pink bodies for girls and blue bodies for boys. The wooden beaded dolls were used as teething toys for babies and a modernised version is still sold in stores today. In this kiwiana print Matt has carefully composed a matching pair of vintage Mary Lou dolls belonging to his children. All of Matt's kiwiana series are handsigned and titled in pencil below the image
