Graveyards Surfbreak Taranaki by Peter Lambert
Handmade Limited Edition Screenprint
Image size in millimetres: 400 x 250
Edition of 45 individually printed, signed and numbered by Peter Lambert
Graveyards is a popular surf break on Taranaki's famous Surf Highway 45. Taranaki artist Peter Lambert is one of New Zealand's leading contemporary printmakers as well as a regular surfer. ** Latest News: We are now down to the last A/P (Artist Proof) of this sought after edition. It is a perfect print with just a couple of tiny ink marks on the white border from when Peter was printing the edition. These marks will be behind the mat when framed :) ** We asked Peter to tell us more about this print and he wrote The "Graveyards surfbreak" screenprint is another one in the series of surfbreak prints I have been producing since 1992. They are done in the multiple image format so as to tell the story of the roads and or tracks to these iconic Taranaki surfbreaks and to also give a sense of location . There is also in each of these surfbreak editions at least one image from out at sea from the surfers point of view. "Graveyards" was named because of its location near an Urupa (Maori burial ground). The gateway to the Urupa with Mt Taranaki in the background is one of the frames in the screenprint. The saucer shaped cloud over the top of the Mountain indicates a SE wind. The ideal offshore wind for the surf at this particular break."
