Kingston Flyer by Peter Beadle
Fine Art PrintImage size in millimetres: 590 x 350
Queenstown's famous vintage steam train, painted by Otago artist Peter Beadle. Print shows the Kingston Flyer on the Fairlight Flats, Kingston on the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Calculations based on the train's logbooks show that this locomotive (AB 778 _David McKellar_) has traveled a distance equivalent to 40 times around the world. AB 778 was manufactured in the Addington Railway Workshop in Christchurch in 1925 and is named after an early farmer who explored the country west of Lake Wakatipu for grazing land.
