The “Wellington” design from NZ artist Glenn Jones “Matchbox series”. In each print in this set Jones reworks the well-known “Beehive” brand of matches in a way that captures a unique aspect of a main NZ city’s identity. Although this design referencing NZ’s parlimentary building “The Beehive” is not a huge departure from the original design by subsituting the normal brand with the word “Wellington” the artist has created an artwork that the viewer has an enjoyable “double take” experience. A good print to send to exiled Wellingtonians to remind them of home.
