Steve Hikaiti

Controversial contemporary Maori artist Steve Hikaiti is self taught in sketching, painting and carving. Steve is of Ngati Po descent and has recently reconnected with his Iwi and life in mainstream New Zealand after many years on the wrong side of the law. Steve Hikaiti's prints are powerful and dramatic expressions of Maori identity executed with a rare and passionate precision. We have a just a few prints remaining from three of his first four editions in stock (the edition of Discovery of New Zealand has just sold out) plus a more recent colour print “Kia Kaha”.
